What’s the story? I bought this ZXR as a running road bike for £900 two years ago. It was a little tired looking but with good history and low miles (19,000m). I thought that it would make a great track bike.

Progress so far? All the road items have been removed and sold to various punters for a total of approximately £800. Then the bike was totally stripped, engine out – the lot. All the aluminium was aqua-blasted and scotch padded to achieve the ’90s superior look. All bearings were replaced and various items powdercoated. The forks have been rebuilt by Maxton with new SD25 cartridges. I’ve fitted a factory clutch cable conversion, Accossato clutch and mastercylinder set too.

What’s next? FCR 39 carbs. Bike ran absolutely great on track this year, just want to improve on what’s already good. Running a standard, low mileage J motor though .... 105 bhp at the wheel; hoping the FCRS add a bit to the acceleration.

Those flatslide FCRS should pep it up a bit

Frame and swingarm finish is absolutely spot-on
