I have a Yamaha TDM850 3VD. It has been stood about a year and starts alright but is running rich as if the choke is stuck on. Do the carbs need cleaning? I haven’t had them off yet. PS Facebook Saul Towers says: First off, check the airbox for evidence of nesting birds and vermin. The carbs will definitely need cleaning after a year’s lay-up. Fuel has a one month from when it leaves the refinery until it starts going off these days. It isn’t difficult to get a TDM’S carbs off for cleaning. Relinking the cables afterwards is the only tricky bit.
“A TDM airbox has gotta be way better than this.”
