Practical Sportsbikes (UK)
1980 RD350LC 4LO
Owner: Rich Woodgate Owned for: two years Paid: £3000 Resto cost: £2000
“I passed my bike test four years ago and bought the LC two years later – having never worked on bikes or done any restoration. I bought it as a non-running abandoned project from Facebook Marketplace and left it in the corner for a year, somewhat intimidated by the whole project.
“I got it running but it wouldn’t rev past 5000rpm, so it was a short ride. It could have been disastrous as it transpired the oil pump wasn’t working. ‘Arrow’ through the RD LC Crazy Forum rebuilt it – he’s the go-to guy. Mutts Nutts did the carbs. I’ve been learning all about electrics and I sorted the loom and fusebox and then fixed the indicator relays with the help of my girlfriend Emma.
“I stupidly dropped part of an ABBA stand on the tank – so that will need repainted. And for spares I use a combination of RD LC Crazy, Fowlers, and Yambits.”
“I made a schoolboy error and bought a set of pipes from ebay advertised as 350LC”
