The hair transplant is a fascinating technique, with fabulous results, if the best techniques are used and if the highest quality is the target of course. Dr Devroye was trained in the United States with the best hair transplant surgeons 15 years ago. The main training was given by Dr John Cole in Atlanta. Since then, Dr Devroye has returned to Belgium where he patiently introduced the technique of the follicular quality transplant with patients coming from various places in Europe.

At present Dr Devroye has a modern private hospital, exclusively intended for the hair transplant. The patients usually come the day before the intervention and leave the day after. A medical staff also stays in the hospital during the first night so as not to leave the patient alone.

Dr Devroye is fascinated by the quality of the results. He thus implemented everything so that transplants are collected and implanted while protecting their integrity in an optimal way.

It includes the training of about ten highly qualified assistants. The material used is also chosen to assure a perfect cut and preservation of grafts. Microscopes have been chosen to facilitate the cut of hair which is difficult to see, like white or very clear blond hair. Grafts are kept in a cool preservation medium to avoid their deterioration. The recipient zone, previously defined and carefully drawn, is then worked by Dr Devroye who makes microscopic incisions by means of mini scalpels. Grafts are then introduced manually one by one, under precise visual control thanks to the use of micro surgery glassess.

The post-operative period is generally harmless. It is rarely painful and the skin quickly turns back to its original aspect. It is, however, necessary to wait between three and four months to see the first re-growth. A period from six to twelve months is often necessary to be able to estimate the definitive result.

Dr Devroye applies the traditional technique by strip (FUT-strip) as well as the FUE technique of follicular extraction which does not leave any scar and allows the wearing of very short hair. He has created his own motor for extraction which allows him to extract each graft precisely and carefully.

You will find on Dr Devroye’s websites all the further details relative to the techniques. You may also ask for an online consultation with photos. You will receive in return a morphing with a simulation of the envisaged work.

It is, of course, ideal to come for a preoperative consultation. This one is personally carried out by Dr Devroye. Precise measures of the densities and the surfaces will allow scheduling a therapeutic strategy with medium and long-term approaches. The strategy is different for each patient. It is naturally very important to act by keeping in mind that hair loss is a progressive process.

How important is a full head of hair for a man?

The hair structures the face of a person: it is a symbol of youth and virility. To return lost hair makes the patient look younger, and enables him to improve his physical image and to regain a certain self-confidence.

How does one go about organising a consultation with the HTS Clinic?

You have two possibilities:

Either you come for a personal consultation, which is free and lasts 45 minutes. I analyse in detail the patient’s situation and propose adapted therapeutic solutions taking into account the present situation but also the possible evolution of the hair loss.

Or you send some pictures by mail or fill in the online consultation on my website. I analyse the pictures and send back to the patient a personalised diagnostic and a simulation of the results that could be obtained.

From the initial consultation how long does one have to wait for the hair transplant operation?

The waiting period is two - three months.

How long does the hair transplant operation last?

My priority is the quality of the transplant. The time spent is a secondary factor but it varies, of course, from one patient to the other, from one technique to the other and it is mostly related to the number of grafts. Generally speaking, I would say that a surgery may last between 8 and 12 hours.

How many members of staff are there at the HTS Clinic, and what training and experience do they have?

My staff is made of 15 assistants: ten technicians especially trained in the field of hair transplant and five assistants who deal with the administrative and computer work.

Is there a typical person who makes use of your services?

There is no typical profile really. We operate on men as well as women, young or older.

What makes the HTS Clinic different to other clinics offering similar services?

HTS private clinic is at the top of its category. The level of the welcome, of the facilities and, of course, of the work realised make it one of the most famous European centres and internationally recognised.

On a personal note, what satisfaction do you get from your work?

When I see some patients after a while and they tell me that I changed their life, I feel an enormous satisfaction, of course, and a big enthusiasm which motivates me to continue on the way that my team and I have chosen, which is the search for the highest quality.
