Air Canada AT A GLANCE
AIR CANADA IS CANADA’S LARGEST AIRLINE AND THE LARGEST PROVIDER OF SCHEDULED PASSENGER SERVICES IN THE CANADIAN MARKET, THE CANADA- US TRANSBORDER MARKET AND IN THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET TO AND FROM CANADA
Air Canada, together with its Air Canada Express regional partners carries close to 35 million passengers, offering direct passenger service to more than 175 destinations on five continents. Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance™, providing the world’s most comprehensive air transportation network.
The hubs of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver provide a springboard to the rest of North America with onward connections to 60 Canadian destinations, and 49 in the United States. The main Toronto hub at Pearson International Airport has domestic, transborder and international operations centralised under one roof offering convenient connection options for passengers travelling anywhere on the global network. Recent improvements such as a simplified baggage process enable Air Canada to better serve customers travelling in-transit between Europe and the USA via Canada – from the UK, travelling to the States, baggage is checked right through to the US destination and customers will no longer be required to pick up their bags as they will automatically be transferred through to the connection flight.
Air Canada provides more flights to Canada from Heathrow than any other airline, including four daily non-stop services to Toronto, as well as services to Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and St. John’s (seasonal service).
In June 2014, Air Canada will be one of the first Star Alliance airlines to relocate its operation to the new Terminal 2, the Queen’s Terminal, at Heathrow. For Star Alliance, being under one roof for the first time means seamless, quicker connections and shared operational facilities between Air Canada and its partner airlines.
Air Canada is the only international airline in North America to receive a Four- Star ranking according to independent UK research firm Skytrax. In 2013, Air Canada was ranked for a fourth consecutive year “Best Airline in North America” in the Skytrax worldwide survey of more than 18 million airline passengers.
