Welcome to the winter issue of Pride Life in which we celebrate the life of gay mathematician and code breaker Alan Turing, now the subject of a new biopic featuring our cover star Benedict Cumberbatch. Thankfully we’ve come a long way since Turing was convicted of gross indecency just for loving another man, but without this gay genius the Second World War would have carried on for a couple more years, and computers as we know them today probably wouldn’t exist. In this issue we also examine how the world would look without the achievements of other gay men and women down the ages. When Turing was alive being gay was a crime, but now not only are we legal ( in the UK at least) we have equal marriage and so we’re celebrating with the lowdown on some of the hot spots to go for your honeymoon. Have a great festive season, and look out for the next issue of Pride Life in February when – because you asked for it – we will start being published bimonthly.
