GrACIE’s nEw stArt

-

Gracie, the gentle Lurcher, was brought into Wood Green, The Animals Charity Godmanchester Centre, on a cold day earlier in the year. She’d been found half-starved and shivering. As one of the worst cases of neglect the team had ever seen, it was vital that she received the dedicated care and attention she so desperately needed to get her back on her feet, and off to a new forever home to experience the love and kindness she so desperately deserved.

Following posts on social media and the website about her condition, her story touched the hearts of so many that it resulted in the charity being inundated with offers to rehome her. So, after weeks of searching for the right home, Wood Green were thrilled to report that not only had Gracie gone from strength to strength, she had at last found a wonderful and loving new home with Mrs Barker.

It was a big day for Mrs Barker, Gracie and the Wood Green team when it was time for her to leave the Godmanchester Centre, to leave behind the familiar faces that had cared for her throughout her recovery. Gracie, albeit shy and reserved, greeted her new owner with a wag of the tail and with that, their new friendship was sealed. Complete with a lovely new coat and collar, Gracie excitedly headed off to her new home much to the relief and delight of everyone concerned.

In a follow-up visit to see how they were getting on, Mrs Barker was delighted to report that Gracie has settled really well and takes great enjoyment from basking in the sunny spots in the lounge and has even unleashed her fun-loving side! She loves her walks and recently surprised Mrs Barker when a few partridges flew out of a bush whilst on their daily walk: Gracie quickly stood up onto her hind legs to get a better look at the commotion!

It’s wonderful to see a pet like Gracie so settled and enjoying her new life, one which is filled with love and kindness. Gracie’s happy ever after story was only made possible thanks to the dedicated care from the Wood Green team and also, most importantly, the generosity of the supporters who are the life blood to the charity.
