MATERIALS

9(10:11) 50g balls Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK in Milk 06.

Pair 3.75mm knitting needles. 17(18:18) small buttons.

TENSION

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over st-st using 3.75mm needles.

NOTE

The right side of the top is worked in one piece from the lower front up to the underarm where the sts for the sleeves are cast on, then up and over the shoulder and down the back, the sleeve sts are then cast off for the underarm and the body is worked down to the lower back edge then cast off, the buttonhole band is worked together with the body along the whole edge, front and back. The left side is worked as a mirror image of the right side, omitting the buttonhole­s.

row P to last 5 sts, [k1, p1] twice, k1. Rep these 2 rows twice more. 7th row P1, [k1, p1] twice, k to end. 8th row P to last 5 sts, k1, [p1, k1] twice. These 2 rows form the st-st with ribbed front edge patt and are repeated. Patt 0(4:6) rows.

TO MAKE UP

Join sleeve, underarm and side seams for each front/back. Sew buttons to left front and left back to match the buttonhole­s on right front and back. Join left piece to right piece by buttoning, leaving buttons open to allow for neck.
