YOUR MUST-HAVE TOOLS

These six multitasking marvels are essential for a super-quick scrub-up

-

MICROFIBRE CLOTHS These attract dirt. Use them wet or dry to remove dust from furniture, blinds and more. Lightly wet one with distilled white vinegar to clean stainless-steel appliances and wipe away messy fingerprints. Bonus! They’re also machinewashable (just avoid fabric softener – it damages the fine fibres).

DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR This workhorse removes odours and is fab for cleaning dirty windows. Also add a cup to laundry to get rid of mildew, use it to remove stains on plastic or to make scrubbing mineral deposits on your shower head a cinch.

DRYER SHEETS Run an unused one along your skirting boards to repel dust. After doing a load of laundry, fish out the used one to wipe out the lint filter in the dryer.

HOB SCRAPER This pocket-size tool is a safe (and manicure-preserving) way to remove burnt-on food from ceramic hobs. Hob Heaven cleaning scraper (£7.99, Lakeland).

DAWN DISHWASHING DETERGENT A bit of Dawn goes a long way. It gets rid of oily stains and is also great for removing soap scum from the bath (£7.54 for 700ml, amazon.co.uk).

WINE AWAY This removes red wine from fabric, carpets and sofas and will lift other red stains (cranberry juice, tomato sauce) from tablecloths and linens (£10.99 for 12fl oz, John Lewis).
