Absolutely FABULOUS!
To coin a certain phrase, that is how I feel about
Prima this month! And that’s because it’s packed full of the most amazing women; women whom
I hope you agree are admirable and motivational role models for us all. Heck, this is surely the ultimate girl crush issue!
First off is our wonderful cover star
Joanna Lumley, who gave us a fantastic, open-hearted interview and was a total joy to work with at our shoot – warm, funny and generous. She’s just back from travelling across India, where she was born, and her new series about the country is set to go out on ITV this month. ‘I loved every second of being there,’ says Joanna.
The TV show is going to be a total must-see.
The food lovers among us will also be tuning in to Nadiya Hussain’s British Food Adventure this summer. Nadiya talks to us about the tastes that inspire her and about the huge changes in her life since winning The Great British Bake
Off in 2015. She’s now happier, more confident and, she says, has become a better example for her kids.
Someone else I’m sure you admire as much as me is Martine Wright, a survivor of the 7/7 terrorist attacks in London – a person who has carved a life for herself that’s totally different to the one she dreamed of when she was younger, but one that is full of incredible achievements and love. ‘Tragedy can give way to the most wonderful positives that enrich your life in ways you never imagined,’ she says.
When I first read her interview, I felt a lump in my throat. This was not only because of Martine’s words, but because this incredible interview was done by someone else I am tremendously proud of – Prima’s features writer, Ella Dove. A year ago, Ella lost her leg after a freak running accident. But, rather than let this beat her, she’s come back brimming with positivity and energy, and is now grabbing every possible opportunity.
I do hope you read this issue and feel as uplifted as the Prima team did putting it together.
