MEASUREMEN­TS

To fit bust 81-97(102-117)cm.

Finished measuremen­ts:

Bust 107(132)cm; Length to shoulder 69cm; Sleeve length 46cm.

MATERIALS

16(19) 50g balls of Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in White 01.

Pair each 3.75mm and 4mm knitting needles.

Cable needle.

4mm circular needle, 60cm long.

TENSIONS

20 sts and 28 rows over st-st and 23 sts and 32 rows over patt, both to 10cm square using 4mm needles.

ABBREVIATI­ONS

CHART NOTES (use chart on opposite page)

Odd-numbered (RS) rows are read and worked from right to left; even-numbered (WS) rows are read and worked from left to right.

BACK and FRONT

(both alike) With 3.75mm needles, cast on 126(154) sts. 1st moss st row (RS) [K1, p1] to end.

2nd moss st row [P1, k1] to end. These 2 rows form moss st and are repeated 3 times more. Change to 4mm needles and work in patt from chart as follows:

1st row (RS) Patt 5 sts to the right of the patt rep, [patt across 1st row of 28-st rep] 4(5) times, patt 9 sts to the left of the patt rep. 2nd row (WS) Patt 9 sts to the left of the patt rep, [patt across 2nd row of 28-st rep] 4(5) times, patt 5 sts to the right of the patt rep. Beg with chart row 3 and working correct chart rows, cont to work from chart as set, working repeats of chart rows 1-40

throughout. Cont in patt until back measures 63cm from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape neck

Next row (RS) Patt 52(64), turn and cont on these sts only, leave rem sts on a spare needle. Slipping the first st of each cast off group, cont in patt and cast off 4 sts at beg of next row and foll WS row, 2 sts at beg of foll 3(4) WS rows and 1 st at beg of next WS row. Cont straight until work measures 69cm from cast on edge, ending with a WS row. Leave rem 37(47) sts on a holder for shoulder. With RS facing, slip 22(26) sts at centre front onto a holder, rejoin yarn to rem 52(64) sts, cast off 4 sts, patt to end. Slipping the first st of each cast off group, cont in patt and cast off 4 sts at beg of next RS row, 2 sts at beg of foll 3(4) RS rows and 1 st at beg of next RS row. Cont straight in patt until work measures 69cm from cast on edge, ending with a WS row. Leave rem 37(47) sts on a holder for shoulder.

SLEEVES

With 3.75mm needles, cast on 48(52) sts. Work 8 rows in moss st as given for Back and Front. Change to 4mm needles and work in patt from chart as follows: 1st row (RS) K3(5) sts, patt across 1st row of all 42 sts of chart, k3(5). 2nd row P3(5), patt across 2nd row of all 42 sts of chart, p3(5). These 2 rows set the position of the chart with st-st to each side. Beg with chart row 3, and working correct chart rows, work repeats of rows 1-40, at the

same time, inc and take into st-st, one st at each end of the next RS row and 16(18) foll 6th rows (5 rows between each inc row) until there are 82(90) sts, working as follows: Inc row (RS) K2, m1, patt to last 2 sts, m1, k2. Cont straight until sleeve measures 46cm from cast on edge, ending with a WS row. Cast off.

NECKBAND

Join shoulder seams using the 3-needle cast off: place the right back and right front shoulder sts onto 4mm needles with both needle points facing the neck edge, then with RS facing each other, take one st from each needle together and cast off sts. Rep for left front and back shoulder. With RS facing, 4mm circular needle and starting at the left shoulder, pick up and k22(24) sts down left front neck, k across 22(26) sts at centre front, pick up and k21(23) sts up right front neck and 21(23) sts down right back neck, k across 22(26) sts at centre back, then pick up and k21(23) sts up left back neck. 129(145) sts. Work in rounds of moss st as follows: [k1, p1] to end of round, then rep this round 6 times more. Cast off in moss st.

TO MAKE UP

With centre of cast off edge of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew on sleeves. Join side and sleeve seams.
