What’s on TV
THE CLASS NEXT DOOR
If you have kids at primary school, this should be a total education. An experiment in which parents of a class of 11-year-olds set up camp in the neighbouring schoolroom, for half a term they’ll dress in the same uniform, have the same classes, do PE and play the recorder. Plus, if they misbehave, they’ll be subject to the same discipline. Channel 4 mid-april
KISS ME FIRST
This innovative six-part adaptation of Lottie Moggach’s bestselling, debut novel is both creepy and emotional. It’s about Leila, a lonely 17-year-old who takes refuge in an online gaming site. She meets Tess there, but becomes embroiled in a real-life mystery when her new friend goes missing. Expect flashy, state-of-the-art animation. Channel 4 mid-april
A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL
It was 1979 when former Liberal party leader, Jeremy Thorpe, stood trial for conspiring to kill Norman Scott – a male model he’d hoped to silence over an affair they had in the 1960s. This excellent three-parter relives the scandal that rocked a nation. Hugh Grant – who’s been away from TV for 20 years – returns as Thorpe, while Ben Whishaw plays Scott. BBC1 mid-april
HATTON GARDEN
Three years ago, a gang of elderly career criminals pulled off a £14million heist in the heart of London’s diamond district. Despite being described by writer Jeff Pope as a ‘bunch of old blokes’ (played by the likes of Timothy Spall and Kenneth Cranham), they ran rings around security. This four-parter explains how they did it and how police caught them. ITV mid-april
