To make

❶ Take the glass from the frame. Put on top of the white card, draw around it and cut card to this size. Place glass over part of the wallpaper and lightly draw around this on the front of the paper. Measure the aperture of the frame and pencil this rectangle within the area you’ve just marked.

❷ Pencil a rough margin around three or four selected parts of the design outside the aperture area that will overlap the frame. Now cut around the outer (glass) pencil line and the roughly marked design areas.

❸ Place the wallpaper piece on a cutting board. Within the rectangle marked for the aperture, cut around any parts of the design you can lift up for a 3D effect. We cut around some flower petals, leaves and a few buds. Do not cut out the entire design.

❹ Next, cut around overlapping parts of the design (from step 2) down to the aperture line. When the design is framed, these will come through the front and overlap the edges.

❺ Place the wallpaper on top of card and fold cut sections of design out to reveal card beneath. With a pencil, mark revealed areas on card. Remove paper and, with the highlighter pen, colour in marked areas. We used pink.

❻ In a well-ventilated area, spray back of paper and place on top of card. Smooth into place, keeping cut pieces bent forward. Carefully place card in frame, easing overlapping part of the design forwards to wrap around frame.
