MATERIALS 12(13:14:15:17) 25g balls of Rowan Alpaca Classic in Charcoal Melange 102. Pair of 3.75mm knitting needles.

Cable needle.

TENSION

22 sts and 39 rows to 10cm measured over garter st using

3.75mm needles. Cable panel of 36 sts measures 7.5cm.

ABBREVIATIONS

BACK

With 3.75mm needles, cast on 115(127:137:149:159) sts. Working in garter st throughout, work as follows: Dec 1 st at each end of 37th and 3 foll 36th rows. 107(119:129:141:151) sts. Cont straight until back measures 50(50.5: 51:51.5:52)cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape armholes

Cast off 4(5:6:7:8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 99(109:117:127:135) sts. Dec

1 st at each end of next 5(7:7:9:9) rows, then on foll 5(6:6:6:6) RS rows, then on foll 4th row. 77(81:89:95:103) sts. Cont straight until armhole measures 21(22.5:24:25.5:27)cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape shoulders and funnel neck

Cast off 3(4:5:6:7) sts at beg of next 4(2:2:2:2) rows, then 2(3:4:5:6) sts at beg of foll 2(4:4:4:4) rows. 61(61:63:63: 65) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of next 2 rows, then on foll WS row. 55(55:57: 57:59) sts. Work 16 rows, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.

FRONT

With 3.75mm needles, cast on 116(128: 138:150:160) sts. 1st row (RS) K49(55: 60:66:71), inc once in each of next 18 sts, k49(55:60:66:71). 134(146:156: 168:178) sts. Now work in patt as follows: 1st row (WS) K49(55:60:66:71), p36, k49(55:60:66:71). 2nd row K49 (55:60:66:71), C24F, k61(67:72:78:83).

Working in garter st throughout, Work as follows: Inc 1 st at each end of 13 th (11 th :11 th :9 th :9 th) and every foll 14 th (12 th :12 th :10 th :10 th) row to 73(67:79:77:91) sts, then on every foll 16 th (14 th :14 th :12 th :-) row until there are 75(79:83:87:-) sts. Cont straight until sleeve measures 45(45:46:46:46) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape top

Cast off 4(5:6:7:8) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 67(69:71:73:75) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of next 3 rows, then on foll RS row, then on 9 foll 4th rows. 41(43: 45:47:49) sts. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st at each end of next row and every foll RS row until 33 sts rem, then on foll 5 rows, ending with RS facing for next row. 23 sts. Cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast off rem 15 sts.

TO MAKE UP

Do not press. Join both shoulder and funnel neck seams. With centre of sleeve top to shoulder seam, sew sleeves into armholes, easing to fit.
