COLOUR IS KEY
Paint can work wonders when it comes to a quick, cheap kitchen update, but bear in mind that you actually have six factors at play when it comes to colour in this room – the ceiling, units, splashbacks, flooring, hardware and, of course, walls. Changing the wall colour will dramatically alter the look of a kitchen, but why not consider all of the other factors to really create a new look? The good news is that many of these things are inexpensive to update. My advice would be to keep and work with the more complicated and expensive things to change – the flooring and splashbacks – and then go to town with colour on the rest. There’s a great primer by Zinsser called B-I-N, which is best to use on units before painting them to ensure a good bond.
