Prima (UK)

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU!

- JO CHECKLEY EDITOR jo.checkley@hearst.co.uk

Last Sunday, my neighbour Gill took me along to her Pilates class. As we started to warm up to the gentle music, the instructor told us to switch off our minds and see the next hour as ‘our time’. At first, my frenzied brain couldn’t compute – with one eye on the clock, I was already thinking about getting the roast in the oven for lunch and the housework that still needed doing. But, after a while, I started to relax. By the end of the 60 minutes, it was true, I felt so much calmer. Okay, the chores at home hadn’t gone away, but I felt more able to cope. And it’s that idea of making time work for you that features in your Prima this month. Our real-life read We Changed Pace And Found A New Life (p28) really inspired me, because it’s all about women making big, brave changes. After deciding to move from London to Cornwall, Cathy Rentzenbrink says, ‘Life does feel slower, but in a good way.’ Doesn’t that sound fabulous? We’ve also tried to save you some precious me-time with our gorgeous fashion edit. Forget trawling the shops looking for that killer outfit for a summer event, just turn to page 14 for our pick of the best occasion dresses. And, if it’s a wedding you’re going to, we’ve got some wonderful outfit inspiration in our reader makeovers (p64). Similarly, our beauty pages (p54) are filled with genius ideas to make your trusted favourites work harder, so you don’t have to. Well, isn’t that what life should be about: maximum enjoyment, minimum stress? And, with that in mind, I’m back off to Pilates to enjoy another hour just for me.
