Behind the scenes with Susanna
The first thing I do when I wake up is… put my coat on over my pyjamas and get in the car. The alarm goes off at 3.50am and if I snooze even for five minutes, I won’t get up again.
I won’t leave the house without… my phone, my ITV notebook and my keys!
My power breakfast is… sliced apple with peanut butter and a black coffee.
My morning mantra is… be prepared. When Piers comes in, he has opinions about everything, so I read the briefs and the papers, check Twitter. And then he still talks about something I had no idea had happened!
My failsafe outfit is… a fitted dress. My stylist Debbie (@debbiedresses) manages to find them in endless different colours and patterns.
I won’t go on air without… a sense of enthusiasm. There’s always a feeling that anything could happen and you have to embrace that.
If I make a mistake, I… always own up to it. That’s something Bill Turnbull taught me when we co-presented BBC Breakfast. When the show’s over, I… have a debrief with the team. We discuss what worked and what didn’t, and pitch our ideas for the next show.
