When you’re sitting at a desk or in front of your computer or phone, check your reflection in a mirror.

WHY? ‘If you find you’re always hunched or leaning forward, this could indicate a slouchy posture,’ says physiother­apist Sammy Margo. ‘Over time, this can contribute to a rounded upper back, which can cause shoulder and upper body stiffness and back pain.’ Mobile phone use can lead to similar problems dubbed ‘text neck’. Keep a small, free-standing table mirror on your desk to glance into regularly.

WHAT NOW Improving your sitting posture is key – keep your neck straight and your shoulders parallel to your hips. ‘Imagine a string attached to the top of your head, pulling you upwards,’ says Sammy.
