HELP FOR HAIR LOSS

-

Q I seem to be losing my hair quickly. It has grown very fine and my central parting has gone.

I don’t eat meat, but eat fish and Quorn, goats’ milk and yogurt. I also have my hair coloured. Is there any advice you can give, please? A Firstly, visit your doctor to rule out any medical causes, such as an underactive thyroid gland or iron-deficiency anaemia – not eating meat means that your iron intake is lower than someone who does. Try using only natural colours on your hair, as some hair dye chemicals weaken hair shafts so they break, leading to thinning. I swear by caffeine shampoos, which stimulate hair growth by improving blood flow, and block an enzyme associated with hair loss in later life. Research shows they can also increase the number and diameter of hair fibres. Eat protein with every meal, for example, eggs, nuts or beans, and take a multivitamin and mineral supplement for vegetarians. Reduce your salt intake, and stimulate your scalp circulation with a daily finger massage.
