PAULA BEGOUN

The brains behind top beauty brand Paula’s Choice, Paula Begoun, 65, talks anti-ageing and why she won’t leave the house without a magnifying mirror!

ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE I can’t go to sleep without applying my Lip & Body Treatment Balm, £14. If you wear it every night, you’ll never have chapped lips again. We formulated it with a blend of skin-softening plant emollients and antioxidants, which keep lips plump and kissable!

THE PERFECT FINISHING TOUCH

A bright pink or red lipstick. As my skin is oily, I use matte formulas as I know they won’t budge. I’ve found NYX Professional Makeup’s Matte Lipsticks, £7, don’t dry out.

I FEEL MOST BEAUTIFUL WHEN

I have my morning ‘pow-wow’ with my boyfriend. We chat about the day ahead over a pot of coffee. Even though I’m in my pyjamas and not wearing make-up, I always feel contented and beautiful.

BEST BEAUTY HACK My Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, £26, helps to keep acne at bay. But what it doesn’t say on the packaging is that it’s also brilliant for softening hard skin on the soles of your feet.

BIGGEST BEAUTY TREAT

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weak, brittle nails, so treating myself to gel manicures means I can have glossy, colour that won’t chip. I love a classic red as it goes with everything.

SKINCARE SECRET

Skin is complicated and needs a balance of everything. I’m a huge fan of layering different products to ensure skin gets a mixture of all the right ingredients.

MY TOP ANTIAGEING TIP I always wear a foundation with SPF, such as It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF50+, £31, which covers beautifully without looking too cakey.

MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT When I was young, I had issues with acne and eczema, and everything I tried made my skin worse. My research into ingredients that could help led to the creation of Paula’s Choice. THE ADVICE I ALWAYS GIVE If you’re not protecting your hands with SPF, you need to start now! Sunscreen will help prevent dark spots, which are instantly ageing.
