Take part in your own sewing bee

Enjoy the city of Bath, learn new skills and techniques and meet The Great British Sewing Bee judge

- with Esme Young

After three years away, The Great British Sewing Bee returned to our screens in February and, with hilarious new host Joe Lycett, made us fall in love with amateur sewers all over again. The likes of contestants Riccardo, Leah and eventual winner Juliet amazed viewers with their ability to turn deckchairs into incredible items of clothing.

Running the tape measure over their creations was the uncompromising Esme Young, and you can meet her on this three-day break in the heart of Bath. To make the trip extra special, you will also take part in two 90-minute textiles workshops with needlework expert Jo Hill, learning new skills and techniques with a group of like-minded guests.

WORKSHOP AND EXCLUSIVE TALK WITH SEWING BEE JUDGE

With Patrick Grant, Esme is one half of The Great British Sewing Bee judging team. Notoriously exacting, she is quick to whip out her tape measure when a lapel or seam looks out of place. You’ll get a sense of what the contestants are up against when you meet Esme at one of your workshops. She’ll be on hand as you are guided through the creation of a sampler using Jo’s trademark bird and flower-printed fabrics.

Esme will also deliver an exclusive talk about her design career, including her first London shop, Swanky Modes, which was frequented by celebrities including Grace Jones, Julie Christie and Toyah. After the talk, she’ll field any questions you might have about the much-loved show and what goes on behind the scenes.

LEARN FROM A TOP DESIGNER

During your two workshops, textile designer Jo will help you make your own creations to take home, using gorgeous fabrics in natural colours and textures, and detailed stitching.

STUNNING LOCATION

You’ll also enjoy a two-night stay in the Country Living Lansdown Grove Hotel. The magnificent Grade Ii-listed building is one of the oldest in Bath, and a stone’s throw from some of the city’s most popular attractions, including the iconic 18th-century Pulteney Bridge and spectacular Bath Abbey.
