MARBLED DECORATIONS

-

Children as well as adults will be fascinated by the patterns these fun crafts can make.

YOU WILL NEED

✽ Two trays ✽ Pebeo marbling bath thickener solution ✽ Pebeo marbling inks (cyan, yellow, white, vermilion, emerald green) ✽ Jam jars ✽ Pipettes ✽ A4 100gsm paper ✽ Paper glue ✽ Pencil ✽ Scissors ✽ Hole punch ✽ Twine

TO MAKE

❶ Half-fill both trays with water. New (empty) cat litter trays or aluminium-foil roasting trays work well for this (they will need to be slightly bigger than A4 size).

❷ Add the marble bath solution to one tray, following the notes on the bottle. Mix the solution every so often, until it has dispersed.

❸ Decide on your colours. The marbling inks can be used as they are or mixed with white in a jam jar to create lighter shades.

❹ Add droplets of your chosen colours to the tray (containing the marbling solution) using a pipette, one for each colour, and carefully swirl together.

❺ Gently place a piece of paper on top of the inks. It’s best to lower the middle of the paper in first by holding the paper at both ends so that it curves in the middle.

❻ Leave for a second, then lift out the paper by one end/corner. Let the excess solution drip off.

❼ Place the paper into the other tray of water to rinse, then hang to dry.

❽ Repeat again and again.

❾ Once dry, fold each marbled piece of paper in half with glue in between. Leave to dry, flat, under something heavy.

❿ Draw and cut out shapes, punch a single hole in the top and thread through a loop of twine.
