Show a loved one you care with these gorgeous knitted heart designs

-

Last year was tough for so many of us but for those going through cancer, it was particularly hard. To help show our support for anyone affected by cancer, Prima has joined forces with Cancer Research UK to create this gorgeous knitted heart pattern and knitted heart card design.

MADE WITH LOVE

Perhaps the person you know has just been diagnosed with cancer or they are facing treatment. Or perhaps, because of the pandemic restrictions, you can’t get to see them in person. Whatever the reason, let them know you’re thinking of them by knitting one of these thoughtful makes. The knitted heart is a gorgeous soft furnishing for a bedroom or sitting room, or you could sew a loop on to the top so it can be hung from a cupboard or door. If you want a smaller project, why not opt for the heart design to attach to a greetings card? Write your message inside and pop it in the post to that special person.

Of course, if you’d like to make the designs for anyone affected by any illness or who perhaps just needs a bit of cheering up, then these designs work just as well for that.

Whatever your reason for making a heart, the good news is, you’ll be helping support Cancer Research UK. Net profits from the sale of the yarn for these makes, when bought from a Cancer Research UK shop* or online

at cruk.org/shop will go towards continuing the charity’s vital work.

As you know, many charities suffered financial losses during the difficulties of 2020, so by knitting these gorgeous hearts, you’ll not only be showing your love to someone affected by cancer but also helping to raise much-needed funds.

Says Cancer Research UK’S head information nurse Martin Ledwick: ‘Being diagnosed with cancer or going through treatment can be a frightening and isolating experience. As a friend or family member to someone affected by cancer, you may want to help but not really know how best to support them. Practical things, such as offering to cook or doing shopping can help, but with the current pandemic guidance that may be difficult. Emotional support can make a big difference too; keeping in touch is so important. Little gestures can go a long way to remind someone that you’re thinking of them – this can be so important when going through cancer.’

HELP SAVE LIVES

With pandemic restrictions in place, sending a token such as the knitted heart can show loved ones they are in your thoughts. ‘You could even personalise it with their favourite colour or their initials,’ adds Martin. ‘By buying the yarn from a Cancer Research UK shop* or our website, you’ll be helping to fund our vital research to save more lives.’

We’d love to see any pictures of your gorgeous knitted hearts before you send them off to loved ones. Or perhaps let us know about the person you’re helping and why the heart means so much to them. Simply email prima.uk@hearst.co.uk
