PEG BELT

Make light work of hanging out the washing.

YOU WILL NEED

✽ Fabric scissors ✽ Length of fabric

✽ Iron ✽ Pins ✽ Sewing machine ✽ Thread

✽ Belt buckle (without pin) or scarf ring

✽ Needle

TO MAKE

❶ Cut a 20cm-wide piece of fabric that’s long enough to go around your waist or over your shoulder like a sash, plus an extra 10cm for fastening when wearing it.

❷ Turn over a 1cm hem on each edge and press.

❸ Fold into three lengthways (so the right sides show on both sides), iron and pin.

❹ Sew all around, about 0.5cm from the edges, removing pins as you go.

❺ Turn over one end by 2cm and loop this around the centre of the buckle, then machine or hand sew securely in place.

❻ Add pegs along the length and join the ends of the belt by using the buckle when you wear it.
