WHY Experts are predicting we’ll want comfort when it comes to new season scents (a reaction, perhaps, to the difficult times we’ve been living through). Gourmand scents, with their cosy notes of caramel, vanilla, toffee, honey and chocolate, are just the tonic for a feelgood boost. The latest are paired with pretty florals, such as jasmine and tuberose, or sharp citrus ingredients to create a spritz less sweet and more sophisticated.

TRY If you’re not used to gourmand perfumes they can feel quite striking to begin with, so start by spritzing on the inside of elbows or wrists (areas that are further from your nose) until you’ve settled into wearing them.
