STAR LETTER

While reading Gaby Roslin’s ‘Let’s

Smile For The Camera!’ (July), I found myself nodding along throughout. I’ve always loved going through old photo albums – anything that reminds me of my late parents, Jean and David, makes me happy. For the past three years, I’ve kept a photo diary by taking a snap every single day. Some are more interesting than others, but I love looking at them all at the end of a year. I feel I remember so much more.

TIMELESS STYLE

I was checking my dressmaking patterns for a summer dress design to make for my granddaughter, when I found four Prima patterns from 1995 and 1996. They look as fashionable now as they did then! A big thank you to the team for your ongoing fashion ideas.

NEVER TOO LATE

I’ve just read your article on Lynn Johnson (July), who took up tennis in her 50s. During lockdown last year, aged 72, I learned to ride a bike for the first time. It was scary, but I’ve mastered it! I may not be Tour de France material, but I enjoy going to the local National Trust grounds with my husband, and we’re hoping to cycle in France next year. Janet Crawford

Your poems

While putting out food for the birds, a Robin was singing, a lovely song that I heard. The Robin came down to feed. He carried on, paying me no heed. He had a bath, then he chased other birds away. Squawking and bossing them about, I would say. The Robin seemed quite pleased with that. Almost like he was saying, ‘It’s my garden, as a matter of fact!’ I look forward to watching the birds soon, listening to their beautiful tune. Jenny Carey

FAMILY FASHION

At last, my daughter Bryony and I can wear the camisoles and skirts I made for us both last summer, from the August 2020 pattern. I added pockets in the skirts, because we need to carry treats for our cockapoo, Eddy! The outfits are so comfy to wear, and easy to make.

A PURRFECT PLACE

Having recently bought a swing lounger for the garden, I was looking forward to trying it out during the beautiful weather. But someone had other ideas – our cat had got there first. Pity he couldn’t talk to tell me what he thought of his new chilling-out spot! Joan Willoughby
