WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE BECOME A VICTIM OF A SCAM

Don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed – you are not alone. Here’s how to report it:

✓Contact your bank immediately. If you call within a few hours, a bank may be able to get the money back, but if it’s two or three days later, then it will be difficult. If your bank doesn’t help, take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

✓Report the crime to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040, or visit actionfraud.police.uk. If you live in Scotland, report fraud to the police.

✓Speak to Victim Support by calling 0808 168 9111 for England and Wales, or 0800 160 1985 for Scotland; visit victimsupport.org.uk.

✓Report the fraud to the dating site.
