HOW TO MASTER LIP PREP

The secret to a proper colour payoff from your lipstick? ‘Exfoliate the lips first with a scrub,’ says make-up artist Hannah Martin. ‘This will remove any dry, flaky skin and leave your lips feeling smooth and supple. You can always make your own scrub with sugar and a little olive oil, or simply brush your lips gently with a toothbrush.’ Max Factor ambassador and make-up artist Caroline Barnes adds: ‘Always apply balm first, but then remove the excess so the texture isn’t slippery. I recommend using a lip pencil as a base, followed by your favourite lipstick over the top. You’ll be amazed by how much longer the colour lasts.’
