Juliet lives in north London with her husband, Hugh, and their dog, Millie.
They have two grown-up children.
My ideal night in begins with… Making the table look beautiful with a lovely cloth, a nice set of china, flowers from the garden and some stones from the beach.
I’ll invite along... All of the family: Hugh, our children, their partners and our grandchild. It’s very rare that we’re all together, but it’s when I’m at my happiest.
I’ll be eating… Hugh’s roast lamb is a family favourite, so we’ll serve that with veg we’ve grown ourselves.
And drinking… Beer. Everyone else will have wine, but lager is about the only thing I drink.
My best-ever dinner party was… My favourite meal was on a beach in Galway, Ireland, with the family. We built a fire and cooked the fresh mackerel we’d fished for ourselves earlier that day. We ate it as the sun set.
My worst dinner party disaster was… When our greedy dog, Millie, ate half the chocolate cake that I’d prepared. Not only did we have no dessert, but I had to take her to the vet! She was fine in the end, and I forgave her because I adore her.
My night-in essential is… Candles – and having nothing on my to-do list!
My current boxset of choice is… I avidly watch The Great
British Bake Off, Gardeners’ World and
University Challenge.
The book on my bedside table is…
Girl by Edna O’brien.
The night will end with… Going outside and gazing at the stars.
I’ll hit the hay at…
Midnight. I’m a real night owl!
