With Yarn B, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn C, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn D, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn E, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn F, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn G, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. With Yarn H, K 2 rows. With Yarn A, work 2 rows st st. These 28 rows form the pattern.

Front and back (both alike)

Cast on 92(102:110:120) sts using

4mm needles and Yarn A.

K 2 rows.

Cont in Garter Stripe Pattern starting with Row 1, work 28 rows of patt. Change to 4.5mm needles.

Using the intarsia method, work the centre 26 sts in Garter Stripe Pattern, and using Yarn A work the sts either side in st st as follows:

Next row K33(38:42:47) in Yarn A, work next row of Garter Stripe Pattern over next 26 sts, k33(38:42:47) in Yarn A.

Next row P33(38:42:47) in Yarn A, work next row of Garter Stripe Pattern over next 26 sts, p33(38:42:47) in Yarn A. These last 2 rows set the patt from now on.

Keeping patt correct, cont straight until work measures 41(42:43:44)cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape armholes

Inc 1 st by kfb in first and last st at each end of the foll 5 rows, working new sts into st st.

Cast on 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. [110(120:128:138) sts]

Armhole borders

Keeping patt correct, work first and last 4 sts in garter st and cont straight until armhole measures 18(19:20:21)cm from start of armhole shaping.

Shape neck

Next row (RS) K41(46:49:53), turn.

Leave rem sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately.

Left side of neck

Cast off 3 sts at neck edge of next row, then

2 sts at neck edge of next 3 alt rows. [32(37:40:44) sts]

Cast off 16(18:20:22) sts at beg of next RS row.

Cast off rem 16(19:20:22) sts at beg of next RS row.

With RS facing rejoin yarn to rem sts left on holder, cast off centre 28(28:30:

32) sts for neck, patt to end of row.

Right side of neck

Work 1 row.

Cast off 3 sts at neck edge of next row, then

2 sts at neck edge of next 3 alt rows. [32(37:40:44) sts] Cast off 16(18:20:22) sts at beg of next WS row.

Cast off rem 16(19:20:22) sts at beg of next WS row.

Neckband

Sew right shoulder seam. Using 4mm needles and Yarn A, with RS facing, pick up and knit 12 sts down left front, 28 (28:30:32) from cast off sts of front neck, 12 sts from up right front, 12 sts down right back, 28(28:30:32) from cast off sts of back neck, 12 sts up left back. [104(104:108:112) sts]

K 1 row.

Cast off all sts.

To make up

Sew left shoulder seam and neckband. Sew side seams. Weave in ends and block to measuremen­ts.
