My Favourite Solo

Prog - - Intro - By Diego Tejeida (Haken)

“It has to be Richard Wright’s solo on Welcome To The Machine by Pink Floyd. I first listened to it when I was in my teens and I didn’t really like it. I thought, ‘Wow, how do they get away with getting the keyboard player that loud?’ But I listened to it more and more and it’s actually very elegant – every single note is supposed to be where it is, and the sound of it is incredible.

"Richard Wright was an expressive keyboard player – sometimes what he did was very simple, just holding a chord on a Hammond organ. But it’s how he held it that was important.” DEV
