ROINE STOLT’S GOLDEN MANIFESTO
Swedish guitarist teams up with Nad Sylvan and Jonas Reingold on new Flower Kings project.
Roine Stolt’s The Flower King release Manifesto Of An Alchemist through InsideOut on November 23.
“I wanted this to have just my name on it,” says Stolt. “But the label felt the band’s name should also be represented. Is it a solo project? To some extent all of The Flower Kings’ albums were based around me. This time, though, I’ve written everything and done all of the lead vocals as well. Soundwise, it’s a wide palette of colours and represents all the music I love.”
The album also features Stolt’s former Flower Kings bandmates Michael Stolt, Hans Froberg and Jonas Reingold, alongside current The Sea Within bandmate Marco Minnemann. They’re joined by Max Lorentz, Zach Kamins, Rob Townsend and Nad Sylvan.
The whole project was recorded in just five weeks. “I have never done an album so fast before. A lot of this was down to [label] InsideOut. I told them I had songs written for a new record and was expecting a release date for next spring or summer. But they suddenly put it in for the end of this year!”
The current band – Stolt (vocals/guitar), Froberg (guitar), Reingold (bass), Kamins (keyboard) and Mirko Dimaio (drums) – will join Spock’s Beard for the InsideOut 25th-anniversary European tour this winter. The setlist will focus on early
Flower Kings material and dates include London’s Islington Assembly Hall on December 9 and Manchester’s Club Academy the following day.
