‘album’: from the start I was hooked.

Your compilations always throw up something interesting, this one ticks all the boxes.

A tedious journey turned into a wonderful musical experience. For those who in the past have condemned the CD, I say open your ears to what’s new.

Thank you for giving me a Christmas stocking of surprises each month, and for creating a Christmas present wish list from just this one album! Yes, it is an album, each track flowing gracefully into the next.

Your magazine revived and expanded my interest in ‘prog’ right from the off. The compilations inspire me to investigate new bands and sounds. I invariably read it from cover to cover, including all the ads. It introduced me to Trading Boundaries and many new and new(ish) bands, while giving me an insight into all my old favourites.

The concert reviews always interest me, in particular those I’ve been to: Fish, Camel, Pineapple Thief (now I’m just name dropping!), Rambin’ Man Fair, A New Day Festival.

Sometimes the reviewer takes a different slant to the concert. Recently I went to Kscope’s 10th anniversary at Islington Union Chapel and was mesmerised by the sound and variety of the acts, also the ambience of the hall. The Church pews didn’t bother me at all, perhaps my arse is more pew shaped!

I generally perceive my cup as half full. As a 61 year old it ought to be at least three quarters full! But music and your magazine with the accompanying compilation CDs fill it to overflowing. Not too sycophantic I hope?

Carry on giving us the new stuff, as well as a smattering of what we know. Thanks for all the memories!
