A MATTER OF OPINION…

-

I’m a little confused about your contradictory coverage of Valis Ablaze’s Boundless album. In April, the magazine published a lukewarm review saying the album “fails to break new ground”. However, in November the magazine published a glowing article saying the album is “breathing new life into the djent genre” and that the band are the “heirs to their forebears’ throne”. Whatever the reason for the change,

I’m happy for it, as Boundless was my favourite prog album of 2018, just ahead of Voices From the Fuselage’s Odyssey: The Founder Of Dreams. Incidentally, the Odyssey album also received a lukewarm review from the magazine, so I hope your view on that disc will eventually change just as it did for Boundless. Both are fantastic albums!

Hi Michael, this is simply a case of differing opinions between the writer of the review, and the writer of the feature. – Dep Ed
