Prog

“I remember the magazine being launched, because I recall thinking, the last time I heard of Jerry doing something prog was the photocopied and stapled-together fanzine Court Jester back in the early 80s. I thought it would be great for this kind of much maligned style of music to finally have its own voice in a national magazine. What do I think of it now? I’m just glad it’s managed to keep going… like many of the bands in it! It’s probably changed a lot of things for many of the newer bands. Without it I’m not sure bands like Big Big Train would have been able to raise their game in quite the same way. For those older bands, it’s just nice to have a magazine that doesn’t want you dead! For Pendragon and the other 80s prog bands, much of the ground work was done over the last 40 years through sheer hard work – touring, making albums, promoting, marketing, all living in the same house on baked beans, etc. So, it’s nice to just have a magazine that doesn’t mention beans!”
