BIRDSONG TRIO BRANCH OUT

- POW

The acclaimed new Liverpool band release their debut EP.

Liverpool based, piano-powered trio Exploring Birdsong will release their debut EP, The Thing With Feathers, on November 29 via Long Branch Records. It follows the two singles The Baptism and The Downpour, and their nomination for two Prog Awards this year. “We’re extremely proud of this EP,” drummer Matt Harrison tells Prog.“I feel these songs really encompass what we’re about as a band, they’re very accessible but also a little bit weird and we can’t wait for people to hear them.”

Alongside the singles and an a cappella cover of (Don’t Fear) The Reaper, recorded in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, the band’s stock has risen rapidly, gaining support slots with Sleep Token, Anneke van Giersbergen’s VUUR and Godsticks.“It’s pretty crazy to have signed for Long Branch [home to acts such as Agent Fresco and Uneven Structure]. We’re now labelmates with some of our favourite ever bands and we couldn’t thank them enough for believing in us.”

The six track EP, inspired by Seamus Heaney’s poem Bye Child about the abused child Kevin Halfpenny, is available to pre-order now in two different CD/T-shirt bundles. Read more at www.facebook.com/ExploringBirdsong.
