Ed’s Letter
Hello, and welcome to the new issue of Prog. And what an issue we have for you this month. In fact you, the readers, can pat yourselves on the back for taking part in Prog’s biggest ever readers’ poll, giving us arguably the biggest and best list of progressive rock musicians ever! As with all our polls we’ve done over the years, it makes for fascinating reading, with more than a few surprises. Thank you to everyone who voted. I look forward to reading all your thoughts.
It doesn’t need me to say it, but the last six months have been challenging to say the least. On a live musical front the outlook remains hugely uncertain (the indecision and apparent lack of interest from those who make the decisions must be soul destroying for those who make a living from live performance in the arts of any kind). However, as I sit here looking at the magazine’s plans for the rest of the year, it’s somewhat heartwarming to see the deluge of releases vying for our attention and space within Prog’s pages. There’s some seriously excellent music being made and we’ll try to squeeze as much of it in as we can.
Allow me to highlight a few extra free gifts we’ve thrown in with this issue. We’ve got an amazing downloadable album from Music Theories Recordings, featuring the likes of Flying Colors, Von Hertzen Brothers, Ayreon, Jan Akkerman, VOLA and more. There’s the 148-page Marillion and Genesis eBooks, and we’ve created a unique playlist featuring every “listen to” choice from the Top 100 of your chosen prog musicians. You can access them all via the links on this page.
Plenty of prog for your pound then. Until next month, please take care…
