here are some albums that listeners need to set aside a sizeable chunk of their day for, and this south London duo make dystopian spacescapes to bathe in at one’s leisure. Our Man In London invites comparisons to Public Service Broadcasting, but this is more abstract, ambient-oriented fare. Things turn positively trippy on the 23-minute The Universe Is Infinitely Serial, which floats from electronic reveries into darker, swirling, deep space soundscapes.
Pulses quicken on the aquatic techno of Paranoid Outcome and the noirish textures of Doomscroller are more striking still, discoloured by guitars that sound like factory sirens, as the music belches out clouds of thick smoke darkening the sky. Turn the lights off and get high on those toxic fumes.
