NEW ALBUM FROM JETHRO TULL

The band sign to Inside Out/Sony and The Zealot Gene will be released in 2022.

Jethro Tull have signed a new record deal with InsideOut/ Sony Music, and will release The Zealot Gene in 2022.

“The band have been actively involved in the creation of the music for this album,” says Ian Anderson. “Which is why it’s a Tull record and not a solo one.”

Tull have been working on that new album since 2017, and now it’s finally been completed. “We started off rehearsing and recording together, which is always my favoured way to work,” says Anderson. “But then the pandemic happened, and when it became clear we wouldn’t be able to get back in the studio as a collective, I finished it off myself.” Of the delay in releasing, Anderson explains: “Because of the pandemic, there are enormous problems in getting time booked at vinyl pressing plants. We just have to wait until there is a slot available.”

The lyrics for the 12 songs on The Zealot Gene will be included in the upcoming book Silent Singing: The Complete Collected Lyrics Of Ian Anderson And Jethro Tull, due to be published by Rocket 88 on October 28. “I hope it makes them want to hear what they sound like,” Anderson says.

Not wanting to waste time, there are already plans for the next Tull album in hand.

“We have a two record deal with InsideOut, and I have ideas in my head for another one,” Anderson says. “Hopefully, we’ll start recording this in 2022, for release the following year.” See www.jethrotull.com for more.
