SOLO ALBUMS FROM WILSON & WAKEMAN

Damian and Adam will also tour the UK in November and December.

Damian Wilson and Adam Wakeman will each release new solo albums through Blacklake Records on November 12, and will play acoustic shows together in November and December.

“It wasn’t until recently that I realised we’re releasing two separate albums at the same time,” says Wilson, while Wakeman adds: “My material is a contemporary classical instrumental, so Damian wouldn’t have a lot to do on it.”

Wilson’s album is titled Limehouse To Lechlade, which again sees him teaming up with longtime collaborator, guitarist Andrew Holdsworth. “We work very much as a team,” says Wilson. “All the solo albums I’ve recorded have been quite eclectic in style and this is a prime example. There’s a lot of work been put into this album. It has a full production with live brass and strings.”

Wakeman’s is titled A Handful Of Memories. “I grew up playing classical piano, and thought it would be nice to do a full album on my own,” he says. “The album was recorded live with no click track. I practised for an hour or so before the recording of each piece and then chose the best versions.”

Readers can expect to hear the new songs when Wilson & Wakeman tour this year. That starts November 19 in Cardiff.

“We’ll be performing as much of the material as we can represent live,” says Wilson. “I’ve been playing the same pieces I wrote with my dad for well over 25 years,” laughs Wakeman.

“So it’s definitely time to play some new ones!”
