VANGELIS GOES OUT OF THIS WORLD FOR NEW ALBUM
Juno To Jupiter takes inspiration from NASA’s explorations.
Greek composer Vangelis has announced details of his unique new album that’s inspired by NASA’s groundbreaking explorations of Jupiter. Juno To Jupiter drops on September 24 via Decca and includes the opera singer Angela Gheorghiu. The album also features samples from the Juno space probe launch as well as the voices of NASA scientists and audio captured by the probe as it studies Jupiter and its surrounding moons.
Juno, named after the Roman goddess and female counterpart to the god Jupiter, launched from Cape Canaveral in 2011 to discover more about the planet’s history. Vangelis’ album plays on those mythological links.
“I felt that I should present Jupiter only with sound, as the musical laws transform chaos into harmony,” says Vangelis. “For Hera/Juno, I felt the need for a voice. Angela Gheorghiu, represents in this historical depiction of the mission to the planet Jupiter, Hera/Juno, in a breathtaking way.”
