If you feel inspired to listen to a song associated with a significant time in your life here’s a few pointers on how to do it mindfully. Make yourself a warm drink and make sure you won’t be interrupted for at least half an hour. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed and listen to the song from beginning to end, allowing yourself to feel whatever emotions come up. Keep your eyes closed and now imagine you’re sitting beside your younger self as you listen to the song for a second time. Check in with how you feel and when you’re ready, listen to the song again but this time with your eyes open, fully present here in the now. When the song ends muse on the following in your journal:
What surprised you about listening to the song again?
What did you feel as you sat next to your younger self?
How has your life changed since that time?
