If you feel in­spired to lis­ten to a song as­so­ci­ated with a sig­nif­i­cant time in your life here’s a few point­ers on how to do it mind­fully. Make your­self a warm drink and make sure you won’t be in­ter­rupted for at least half an hour. Sit com­fort­ably with your eyes closed and lis­ten to the song from be­gin­ning to end, al­low­ing your­self to feel what­ever emo­tions come up. Keep your eyes closed and now imag­ine you’re sit­ting be­side your younger self as you lis­ten to the song for a sec­ond time. Check in with how you feel and when you’re ready, lis­ten to the song again but this time with your eyes open, fully present here in the now. When the song ends muse on the fol­low­ing in your jour­nal:

What sur­prised you about lis­ten­ing to the song again?

What did you feel as you sat next to your younger self?

How has your life changed since that time?
