FEELING STRONGER

My community,

-

About 18 months ago, the life I knew and loved slowly started to fall apart. My mum was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer and died three months later. My dad, proud and strong, died of a broken heart. Losing both my parents broke me, then the man I loved left me, and I turned 50 feeling lost and alone.

I discovered Psychologies and it gave me hope. Each issue seemed tailored to my pain. I subscribed and love when the post arrives. I thank you, Psychologies family, for the strength and help you give me. Angie

After an accident left me with a broken leg and ankle, I was so grateful and humbled by the help and support I received from people in my community. I had visits and lovely, thoughtful gifts. People I had only ever seen in passing contacted me and delivered delicious food. A group of amazing women organised a dog-walking rota for my energetic sprocker, Jasper. They took him out twice a day for four months while I recovered from surgery. People called by for chats, brought shopping, took me out for trips and helped in so many ways. Everyone was amazing and I can never thank them enough. I now know so many more people and am reminded of the kindness of others. I love my village and feel even more at home here now – I’ve even become a parish councillor! Thank you to my wonderful community.
