GREEN IMPETUS
My best friend, Lee
I AM VEGAN, I RECYCLE, hardly buy anything new and litter-pick weekly. I never throw away food, I compost and grow vegetables. I holiday in this country, have solar panels, use my bicycle more than my car and am saving for an electric car. I like to think I am doing a fair bit to help the environment, but I know there is more we can all do.
Ellen Tout’s column, ‘How can we create a more sustainable future for the planet?’ (November), really made me think. As suggested, I am emailing my MP about the lack of funding for green projects and have ordered the recommended book. Thank you! Josephine
My mother recently passed away from cancer after eight months of illness and being in the hospice for only a week. My friend, Lee, has been a great support during what has been such a difficult time for me. Just a few days after Mum died, I received the October 2020 edition of through my letterbox. Enclosed was a note from Lee telling me that she had ordered a subscription on my behalf! I had talked about how I hoped to subscribe to the magazine once my Covid-reduced salary was back to normal. We both love She said she hoped I would find some comfort in the magazine’s pages. Here I am, the day after Mum’s service, reading and it is most definitely helping me heal – as is my friend, Lee, with her caring nature and friendship. Thank you.
