A University of Michigan study found that 53 per cent of women over 50 – and 30 per cent of 65–80-year-olds – had been sexually active in the past year.

But those who had not were more likely to be struggling with unresolved menopause issues or health problems that impacted on intimacy – reinforcing the need to speak to a doctor.
