Team effort
Gender equality issues are taken more seriously at work when both sexes raise their concerns together, a study has found. Researchers from The University of Texas interviewed more than 3,200 people about proposals such as training for women on pay negotiation and ensuring at least 50 per cent of interview candidates for leadership roles are female. Participants, including those in management roles, reacted most favourably to mixedgender coalitions lobbying for change than men- or women-only advocates. This is because joint pressure signals an issue is important to all staff.
