“My favourite depends on which band of his it is – Blur, The Good, The Bad & The Queen… If it was Gorillaz, my favourite would be Melancholy Hill. I was thinking

about all these other things but on Rocket Juice And The Moon [a group featuring Albarn, Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Allen], it’s Poison. It was very enjoyable playing that together. Blur had done that song about me, Music Is My Radar [ 2000]. That was the first time I’d heard of him. I thought, ‘There’s this person singing about me, I feel that person must know what he’s talking about.’ I liked his melodies, I liked his way of composing, so I invited him to come and sing on my album, Home Cooking, and he did. I really appreciated that. Then after he finished the Gorillaz thing he called me up and said, ‘Let’s do something fresh,’ and we did The Good, The Bad & The Queen. We’re on the second album for The Good, The Bad & The Queen now. We’re going to finish it and it’ll be out soon.”
