“When I was a teenager, [ peer-to-peer sharing network] LimeWire was really popular. We only had one computer in my house, so my cousin Malik – who lived with us at the time – was downloading all his music. He was getting a lot of N.E.R.D. stuff and the first song I heard was Am I High. At first I didn’t understand it, their style was so unique and I was confused by the rapping and singing – I guess that’s what hooked me in. Lapdance was a big song for me on that album, they sounded like badasses. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo on that album are unmatched.”
