Craft a posy of poppies

What better way to lift your spirits than with a vase full of colourful flowers? If, like us, you’re always disappointed when the time comes to throw your precious blooms away, you’re going to love these delicate paper poppies. And what’s more, they’re easy to make, too! Using just a few craft staples, and a bit of technical knowhow, you can have a perfect bouquet in no time at all. So, go on... treat yourself! You won’t regret it.

Draw a teardrop petal shape on scrap paper. Cut out and use as a template to cut eight petals from crepe paper, ensuring the grain runs from the top to the bottom. cardmakingandpaper For each flower, punch two 3.5cm and 5cm circles of card....

Use craft pliers to bend the end of a wire stem. Make a hole in the centre of the larger cup and thread the wire through, securing with glue. Glue the smaller cup on top.

Using a template, cut out two leaves. Stick them under the flower and cover the edges by threading the wire stem through a small circle of crepe paper. Glue to secure.
