RICHARD HARRIS: RAISING HELL AND REACHING FOR HEAVEN

The Ghost of Richard Harris, Saturday 9pm Sky Arts When the actor Richard Harris first met journalist Joe Jackson in 1987, they didn’t get on, as Jackson’s probing questions delved too deeply for Harris’s liking. They reconciled, however, and became such good friends that Harris asked Jackson to write his biography. Over the years the pair sat down together many times and recorded their conversations, and Richard Harris: Raising Hell and Reaching for Heaven (Merrion Press, £22.99, out 25 November) is the result. Part memoir and part entries from Jackson’s journals, it paints a deeply personal portrait of the man behind the tag of “legendary actor”. See feature page 22
